SMA 300 - Numerical Analysis (Mathematics)

This course covers numerical techniques for problems that lack closed-form solutions. Coverage includes error analysis, root finding, interpolation, numerical differentiation and integration, and numerical ODE methods. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, convergence, and stability. Students model real systems and evaluate the strengths and limits of numerical algorithms. Software required (see instructor).
When Offered: Spring semester, even-numbered years.
Prerequisite(s): SCS 132  and SMA 140 .  SMA 225  recommended.
