SOT 522 - Physical Disability Practice I (Occupational Therapy)

4 Credit(s)

Examination of theory and evidence-based practice of physical disabilities areas that addresses movement and maintenance functions.  Emphasis on screening, evaluation and intervention approaches across the lifespan. Includes orthopedic conditions (e.g. fractures, joint replacement, arthritis, polytrauma, amputations), and maintenance system conditions (e.g. cardiac, pulmonary, immune systems, cancer, acute/sepsis). Rehabilitation skills include range-of-motion, muscle strength, prostheses, use of adaptive equipment, body mechanics, transfers and wheelchair positioning.
When Offered: Spring semester.
Prerequisite(s): SOT 510 Foundations of Occupational Therapy
