SHL 301 - Health Disparities (Health Science)

This course examines health disparities through a public health lens, emphasizing biological, behavioral, environmental, and socioeconomic determinants of health, systemic inequities, and structural barriers. Students engage in evidence-based analysis, scientific reasoning, advocacy, and service-learning, grounded in Catholic Social Teaching and Seton Hill values. The course develops professional communication, ethical and safe practice, and the ability to analyze root causes and translate scientific and moral knowledge into practical wisdom that promotes justice, solidarity, and common good.
When Offered: Fall semester.
