SMT 120 - Psych of Music/Research Methods (Music Therapy)

Study of psychological and physiological effects of music. Covers the science of music including psychoacoustics and how music is processed; functional uses of music in society; aesthetics and affect; music and personality; and analysis of psychological implications of musical properties (rhythm, melody, harmony, dynamics, tempo, voice, instrument). Quantitative and qualitative research methods will be explored, and students will learn how to evaluate the research quality of scientific studies.
