Focuses on practices for trauma informed-care of children and families. Students engage in critical learning experiences recognizing key components related to trauma why it is important to understand trauma. Designed to prepare professionals with background knowledge and critical understandings of the types of trauma experienced by children and how trauma affects children’s brain development and their ability to learn. Guiding principles for embracing resilience and trauma informed-care in communities are also discussed. 3 credits.
