The curriculum is designed to prepare the student for a career in industry or government or to study mathematics at the graduate level. Students are encouraged to complement the major with courses from computer science, the natural and social sciences, economics, and business. In the United States, actuaries are certified by the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society. The coursework in the Actuary Science major prepares students for the first two exams in the certification sequence.
