Trauma-Informed Care, Certificate

The Trauma-Informed Care Certificate provides undergraduates with the instruction and the practices needed to become trauma-informed professionals. The Trauma-Informed Care Certificate is online and can be completed in one academic year, with a total of 18 credits.

 

Learning Objectives: Trauma-Informed Care Certificate

  1. Understand many different types of trauma including individual, family, group, community trauma and mass trauma.
  2. Examine how ACEs related to the household, environment, and individual factors interconnect in individuals’ lives, impacting families, communities, and organizations.
  3. Distinguish the principles and conventional operations of the criminal justice system including police, courts, corrections, and juvenile justice. 
  4. Develop the cultural, social, and interpersonal competencies to effectively work with diverse populations. 
  5. Develop self-care strategies for building a positive well-being and healthy lifestyle.
  6. Evaluate the importance of rehabilitative practices as an effective social and policy approach.
  7. Examine criminal justice interventions and procedures, based on sound theoretical/philosophical concepts and on evidence-based practices.
  8. Explore beginning communication and reflective skills for effective interviewing and counseling.
