The Trauma-Informed Care Certificate provides undergraduates with the instruction and the practices needed to become trauma-informed professionals. The Trauma-Informed Care Certificate is online and can be completed in one academic year, with a total of 18 credits.
Learning Objectives: Trauma-Informed Care Certificate
- Understand many different types of trauma including individual, family, group, community trauma and mass trauma.
- Examine how ACEs related to the household, environment, and individual factors interconnect in individuals’ lives, impacting families, communities, and organizations.
- Distinguish the principles and conventional operations of the criminal justice system including police, courts, corrections, and juvenile justice.
- Develop the cultural, social, and interpersonal competencies to effectively work with diverse populations.
- Develop self-care strategies for building a positive well-being and healthy lifestyle.
- Evaluate the importance of rehabilitative practices as an effective social and policy approach.
- Examine criminal justice interventions and procedures, based on sound theoretical/philosophical concepts and on evidence-based practices.
- Explore beginning communication and reflective skills for effective interviewing and counseling.
