SED 305 - Practicum: Multiculturalism (Education)

1 Credit(s)

Multicultural teaching is a personal, professional, and spiritual endeavor. The purpose of this course, which prepares teaching candidates in all certification areas for working with diverse populations, is to initiate multicultural journeys by pairing fieldwork with an exploration of social justice, critical, and culturally relevant pedagogies. This approach, which provides opportunities for deep collaboration, builds capacities for raising the academic achievement of linguistically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse learners. By engaging in this combination of theory and practice, students are introduced to the dispositions necessary for meeting the needs of all learners.  Formal admission into the Education Program required or permission of the instructor.  A pre-service 15 hour practicum experience for students in districts that have a diverse (ethnically, racially, and economically) student body.  Required Clearances.
