SED 245 - Functions of Special Ed Classroom (Education)3 Credit(s)
This course will explore: overviews of learning support, emotional support, autistic support, life skills support and resource classroom settings; teacher preparation and strategies to adapt the classroom environment to meet the physical, academic and emotional needs of students (from grade PK - grade 12, or up to age 21); behavior and transition plans; written communications and collaboration strategies with interdisciplinary professionals including paraprofessionals, co-teachers, and families; advocacy skills; teacher leadership and coaching strategies; reflective and mindful practices for self-care; and strategies for understanding trauma in adolescence and building resilience for the trauma-sensitive special education classrooms. Required Clearances.
