SAT 575 - Addiction and Recovery (Art Therapy)

This course provides students with an overview of addictive disorders including contemporary theories of addictive behavior, pharmacological classification of addictive substances, assessment of addictive disorders and currently preferred models of addictions treatment. Levels of care will also be reviewed along with co-existing social symptoms and dual diagnosis. The student’s development of assessment skills and the therapeutic process of recovery will be emphasized. Course must be completed with a grade of B- (2.67) or higher for continuation in the Art Therapy program.
