This course focuses on the historical, cultural, socioeconomic, and political contextual backgrounds of various group identities, as well as ethical considerations in working with diverse populations. Students will gain an understanding of cultural values of individuals, collective identities in communities, and the impact of those on personal and professional relationships. Additionally, there will be a specific focus on the importance of respecting and valuing diversity within the criminal justice profession and broader community.
