Learning Objectives: Social Studies Teaching Certification
- Discuss and explain the basic terminology and concepts in history, sociology, political science, geography, and economics.
- Use general concepts such as class, gender, and ethnicity to analyze and explain developments in human life in diverse times and places.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to diverse student populations.
Students who wish to obtain a Bachelor’s degree will fulfill the requirements of the Liberal Arts Curriculum, the capstone assessment requirement, and the courses required for an academic major of the student’s choice (history is recommended), plus the following courses. Students who have a Bachelor’s degree need to take the following courses only. This teaching certificate program prepares the student for a teaching certificate for grades 7 through 12.
