Learning Objectives: Human Resource Management

After graduating with a BSBA degree with a major in Human Resource Management from the School of Business at Seton Hill University, students should be able to demonstrate the following: 

  1. Critical thinking and application of critical thinking to solve problems.
  2. Ability to apply and integrate theoretical knowledge from the discipline into real life applications.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively - written and oral presentation.
  4. Ability to effectively use IT skills in information systems, statistical software, application in spreadsheets, and data visualizations.
  5. Ability to identify ethical issues in the decision-making process and solve problems ethically.
  6. Ability to recognize when change is needed, and lead change to reach sustainable outcomes. 
  7. Ability to lead with a global perspective, and instill leadership that values diversity and inclusiveness.
  8. Basic knowledge of accounting, management, marketing, finance, economics, and human resource management.
  9. Broad understanding of relevant HRM and employee talent.
  10. Knowledge and competencies in organizations, designing and analyzing strategies to positively influence employee behaviors, company quality of life, productivity, and profitability.
  11. Abilities to define, identify, and apply the principles of implementation practices for the major components of the human resource management field, including employee relations and regulations. 
  12. Ethical HR employee-related decision making. These skills will include critical thinking, problem solving, communicating, and business strategizing. 
  13. Ability to apply human resource management and human capital strategies in organizational settings with consideration of external and internal business environmental aspects as they evolve. 

All candidates for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in Human Resource Management must complete the Liberal Arts Curriculum requirements, the capstone assessment requirement, and the required courses for the major and develop competency in written and verbal business communication skills.

The capstone assessment includes the successful completion of a showcase portfolio. Students are required to present how their professional identity is solidified by study in the liberal arts.

A minimum of 120 credits is required.
