SMA 127 - Statistics for Science

3 Credit(s)

An introductory course in statistics for the natural and health sciences, with exposure to various modern statistical software.  The course will teach such basic statistical methods for laboratory and clinical researchers as descriptive statistics, correlations, t-tests, Chi-square tests, analysis of contingency tables, one-way ANOVA, simple regressions, multiple linear regression, logistic regression, and other topics as time allows.  An emphasis is placed on intuition and rigor.  


Credits: 3.

When offered: Fall semester.

Prerequisite: SMA 117  or placement exam.

Liberal Arts Curriculum: Satisfies the Mathematics requirement.
