SED 665 - Leadership Coaching & Prof Develop (Education)

While reading specialists are primarily tasked with language development, they are also responsible for helping their students become critically, culturally, spiritually, and visually literate. In addition to maintaining multi-tiered systems of support, navigating technological issues, and advocating for inclusive practices, they also expected to serve as leaders, coaches, and general resources for other educators. The purpose of this course is to familiarize teachers with the complex role of literacy professionals and provide them with strategies for developing school, family, and community partnerships. Topics include grant writing, designing professional learning experiences for teachers, and working with external agencies to develop comprehensive literacy programs.


 Credits: 3.

 When Offered: Master’s session 3, Online. 

 Prerequisite: SED 661 . Admission to the Critical & Cultural Literacy, M.Ed. program.
