This course focuses on best practices in professional nursing applied to fundamental patient care skills. The course includes the concepts of hygiene, mobility, sensory perception including tissue integrity, nutrition, elimination, sleep, and oxygenation. Multidisciplinary team roles and responsibilities are discussed in the context of delivering safe, high-quality health care. Therapeutic communication, use of research evidence, and clinical practice guidelines are addressed to enhance critical thinking, clinical practice, professionalism, and leadership abilities.

Prerequisites: SNU 201 and SNU 202 with a B- or better.
Corequisites: SHL 216 , SHL 217 , SNU 204 .
