SED 671 - Reading Specialist Seminar (Education)3 Credit(s)
In addition to guiding teachers through the final stages of becoming Literacy Professionals and certified Reading Specialists, this seminar also provides them with a space to reflect, collaborate, and troubleshoot their experiences in the Reading Specialist Practicum with a cohort of their peers. This is a time to give and get support, to celebrate, and, at times, to commiserate: all of which is important for cultivating the type of professional community that helps sustain and motivate educators at all levels of experience. Other activities include preparing for the Reading Specialist Praxis (5301) by answering practice questions and responding to case studies, completing an Exit Survey, and assembling the Program Portfolio.
